Workshops

Exploring time

Earth’s vast history offers valuable insights into what the next hundred, thousand, or more years might bring, encouraging us to act for the benefit of future generations, both human and otherwise. Inspired by the wisdom of thought leaders like Roman Krznaric, Stephan Harding, Marcia Bjornerud, Kurt Stager, and Richard Fisher, these workshops provide a range of tools, activities, and resources to foster long-term thinking.

These ‘exploring time’ workshops are an opportunity to challenge prevailing assumptions about time, broaden our time horizons and develop skills to prioritise the ‘important’ over the ‘urgent’.

The workshops are perfect for those who Inspired by the Deep Time Walk, and also suitable for those who have already participated in a walk, but want to delve deeper.

  1. Concept of short and long ‘now’?
  2. Overview of Earth’s deep past, and what we can learn from it eg much of what lies ahead has happened before
  3. A look at different cycles of time eg financial year, electoral cycle etc and how they impact us
  4. ‘Urgent’ vs ‘important’
  5. Levels of future eg tomorrow, later in our own lifetime, our grandkids future or deep future.
  6. Tools and meditations to embed long-time thinking and give future generations a voice.
